South Valley Civic Theatre

President's Message

South Valley Civic Theatre, a non profit organization, had its humble beginnings in Gilroy, California. Originally, a nomadic group of theater lovers called The Gilroy Community Theatre, the organization offered two or three productions a year and performed in various venues in and around Gilroy. As it grew in popularity and drew new members it was decided, in the 80.s, to change the name to South Valley Civic Theatre in order to encourage participants in South County and beyond.

At present, South Valley Civic Theatre is the anchor tenant of the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse where we perform six plays a year. Our season offers a large family musical, two smaller productions for adults, a teen musical and a young players musical. Our new season, beginning September 14, 1970 opens with the classic and often requested .Arsenic and Old Lace.. .Scrooge, the Musical. will be presented for the holidays, followed by our teen production of .Little Shop of Horrors.. Our young players will present .Pinocchio. in the spring and our season will be completed with the highly entertaining musical, Nunsense.

South Valley Civic Theater is a volunteer organization and welcomes community members of all ages and from all walks of life; seasoned performers and staff as well as new comers. We have many positions available from producers, directors, designers and actors to lighting and sound technicians, backstage, prop, and costume crew, builders, painters, ushers and concessions helpers.

Our board of directors meets monthly and welcomes input from the community. If you are interested in becoming part of our organization, auditioning for a show or simply purchasing a ticket, check our website, contact us by mail or introduce yourself at one of our productions.
