Who Do You Love?

Out & About Magazine announces its 9th Annual
Readers' Choice Awards

South Valley Civic Theatre certainly got its share of the love.

  • Youth Theater: South Valley Civic Theatre
SVCT is proud of its program of encouraging young actors and helping them grow. We present a children's show and a teen show every year, in addition to at least one other show with multiple roles for young people. A number of our youngsters have as many as eight or ten shows under their belt by the time they move up to the teen shows where they get a real workout focused on singing, dancing, and acting.
  • Local Actor: Christopher Bezanson
Chris starred as Josh Baskin in "Big: the Musical" in 2013, and the year before as Ozzie in "On the Town". In 2011 he had roles as Rocky in "Damn Yankees", Harv in "Curtains" and Elisha J. Whitney in "Anything Goes". Before that he was in "The King and I", played Pappy Yokum in "Li'l Abner", and Fat Sam in "Bugsy Malone Jr.". Chris is a prime example of an actor who has grown through SVCT's youth program.
  • Local Actress: Rosilind Farrotte
All right, we can't claim full credit for Roz, though we think of her as part of our theater family and she has brightened our stage a number of times including her roles in "Blythe Spirit", "Inspecting Carol", "Nunsense", and "Noises Off".

"Sometimes when you swing for the fences you come up with a grand slam."

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

"As each of the contestants, adults pretending to be children, was introduced and sang it was clear that this is perhaps the best total ensemble of singers that South Valley Civic Theatre has had the good fortune to gather. Each one has a unique voice and style and, clearly, the entire company has been directed, coached and liberated to swing for the fences committing to the over-the-top comedic style the play demands."

- Paul Myrvold, Theatre Arts critic for "Out & About Magazine"

"The Wizard of Oz is a Treat"

That's what Qs Reviews said, giving it their highest rating, a super Peggy's pick.

"With limited resources and a small stage the inventiveness is amazing as no part of the story or the magic is left out."
