Our Mission

SVCT entertains, enlightens, engages, and inspires through the magic of live theater.

Our vision: When the show starts, time stands still.

High Quality Community Theater

South Valley Civic Theatre (SVCT) is a non-profit 501(c)3 community theater organization directed and staffed entirely by volunteers. Our mission is to entertain, enlighten, engage, and inspire through the magic of live theater. We produce musical and non- musical live theater, drawing on talented musicians and non-professional actors from as far away as the North Bay and Hollister. SVCT offers performances at two venues, the lovely 180 seat Morgan Hill Community Playhouse, and Limelight, an intimate 50-seat cabaret-style space in Gilroy. Join us!

Support For Our Youth

We are also proud of our tradition of encouraging young actors and helping them grow. Of the five shows we present each year at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse, we always include a children’s show, a teen show, and at least one other show with multiple roles for young people. We believe that involvement in community theater is an important means for youth to develop confidence and skills and for adults to support the youth of our community.

.

Many children’s theater programs require “participation fees” that can cost hundreds of dollars per child per show. SVCT offers one of the few participation fee free children’s programs in the Bay Area. Your support of SVCT (as an audience member, volunteer, sponsor, advertiser, donor, or member) enables SVCT to continue providing free and equal access theater opportunities to South Bay youth.

SVCT Inclusion Statement

We believe in the transformational power of theatre. We believe that the arts have the power to inspire social change. In pursuing this vision, we seek to manage our programs and organizational culture in a manner that embraces equity, diversity and inclusion. We are an organization that values and celebrates everyone’s life experiences, their voices and their histories. Celebrating unique perspectives and contributions, South Valley Civic Theatre expects that all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual identity, culture, age, gender expression, background, ability, economic status, education, credentials and experience have the opportunity to be engaged in our programming.

.

We resolve to create a space where all people feel complete, heard, respected, understood, valued and connected. We strive to create an environment that feels like home to our participants and our audience. We believe that creating a genuinely inclusive environment and ensuring that diverse voices are present and active in all aspects of our programming enhances our organization’s effectiveness. We aim to continuously push our thinking, challenge long-held beliefs and assumptions, and leverage our diversity to explore new, uncharted areas with our productions.
